James Davis is recognized for his outstanding achievements in track and field at the high school, collegiate, and international levels.
At Will C. Wood, Davis excelled in track while also competing in basketball and football. He won both a Monticello Empire League and Sac-Joaquin Section championship in the 400 meters and capped his high school career with a state championship in the event.
Davis continued his success at the University of Colorado, where he was a seven-time NCAA Championship qualifier and earned All-Big 8 honors in both the 200 and 400 meters. He still holds the school record in the 400 meters.
As a professional athlete, Davis achieved national and international success, including USA Indoor 400-meter national titles in 2000 and 2001. He earned a silver medal in the 4×400 relay at the 2003 Pan American Games and was a member of U.S. World Championship 4×400 relay teams in 2006 and 2008.
