🏆 Hall of Fame

Tonight, we proudly honor Michael Chambers, Class of 2001, whose name is forever etched into the history of Will C. Wood High School Athletics.

A four-year varsity basketball standout, Michael’s impact on the court was nothing short of extraordinary. He was named Team MVP all four years—a testament to his leadership, consistency, and dominance from the moment he stepped onto the hardwood. As a freshman, sophomore, and junior, he earned All-MEL honors, and by his senior year, he had elevated his game to historic levels.

In 2001, Michael led his team to a MEL League Championship and was named MEL League MVP. That same year, he was recognized as Senior Athlete of the Year and became the top scorer in MEL history. Along the way, he shattered records—breaking the school’s single-game scoring record in 1998 and eventually surpassing the all-time scoring record, cementing his legacy as one of the most prolific players to ever wear the Wildcat uniform. His excellence earned him national recognition with a nomination to the McDonald’s All-American Team.

His achievements extended beyond the court. Michael was awarded the 2001 Teamster Merit Scholarship and earned a full-ride scholarship to the University of San Francisco, where he competed for 2 years before transferring to the University of California, Santa Barbara and playing 2 more years at the Division I level.

After college, Michael carried his drive and leadership into his professional career. For over 15 years, he has worked at Apple Inc. as an Engineering Project Manager in software development and sales, demonstrating the same commitment to excellence that defined his athletic career.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Michael’s greatest pride is his family. He has been married for 10 years to his spouse, Jenna Chambers, and together they are raising two wonderful children, their son Jrue and daughter Mara.

Michael Chambers’ story is one of relentless determination, record-breaking performance, and lifelong leadership. He didn’t just play the game—he changed it. His legacy at Will C. Wood is not only measured in points scored and titles won, but in the standard of excellence he set for every athlete who followed.

It is with great pride that we welcome Michael Chambers into the Will C. Wood Athletics Hall of Fame.
