🏅 Volleyball, Girls
It is such an honor to welcome two superstar siblings to the Will C. Wood Athletics Hall of Fame. With great pride, we first welcome Amy Stutte, class of 1999. Amy’s exceptional talent, leadership, and dedication to volleyball have left an indelible mark on the program, making her a worthy recipient of this prestigious honor.
Amy was a standout player during her three years on the varsity volleyball team. In both 1997 and 1998, she earned All-MEL honors, solidifying her reputation as one of the league’s top athletes. Amy was a selfless leader on the court whose fierce play elevated that of her teammates. A smart setter, Amy knew when to get a kill for herself and when to dish the ball to her teammates. In her junior year at Wood she led the team in assists, with 331 in league play. She finished MEL with 43 kills as a setter, third on the team in kills behind her two outside hitters.
Amy also led the team from the service line consistently serving perfect games, going 12 for 12, 17 for 17, 18 for 18, 25 for 25, and a high of 26 for 26 against Vintage High School in a five-set barn burner win. Amy went 89 for 90 at the midway point in the season and finished her junior season with only five misses, going 306 for 311 with 98% accuracy.
Her senior year was particularly remarkable, as she set a record for serving accuracy, going an incredible 294 for 294 in MEL competition. Her consistency and precision were unparalleled, making her a vital asset to the team. That same year, she was named the team MVP and was honored as an Optimist All-Star, a testament to her exceptional skill and dedication to the game.
Amy’s volleyball journey did not end with high school. She continued playing at the collegiate level, beginning at Sacramento City College, where she earned All-Conference and All-NorCal honors. Her excellence on the court carried her to Pacific Union College, where she completed her collegiate volleyball career, leaving a lasting impact on the program.
Amy Stutte’s legacy as a dedicated, talented, and hard working athlete remains an inspiration to future generations of Wildcats. Her achievements set a standard of excellence and sportsmanship that continues to influence the Will C. Wood volleyball program. Tonight, as we celebrate her induction into the 2025 Will C. Wood High School Athletics Hall of Fame, we honor not only her individual success but also the legacy she has left behind. Congratulations, Amy, on this well-earned recognition!
