It is with great pride and admiration that we welcome Lloyd Chan into the 2025 Will C. Wood High School Athletics Hall of Fame. Lloyd’s unwavering dedication to the school community, his significant contributions as an educator, and his role as the school’s historian have left an indelible mark on the lives of students, athletes, and staff alike.

Lloyd Chan’s journey at Will C. Wood High School began in 1992/93 as a student teacher. He joined the staff full-time in 1993, embarking on a distinguished career as a science teacher that spanned over two decades. From earth science to biology, chemistry, and physics, Lloyd’s passion for education and his commitment to student success were evident in every lesson he taught. His impact in the classroom laid a strong foundation for countless Wildcats to pursue their dreams in science and beyond.

While Lloyd’s contributions as an educator are remarkable, he is perhaps most well-known for his role in capturing the memories and milestones of Will C. Wood’s athletes and students. In fact, according to him, he’s been taking photos of sports and activities since the “dinosaur days of black and white film photography” and in the late 1990’s was recruited by fellow teachers to help with yearbook coverage.

Since 2008, Lloyd has been the trusted photographer responsible for taking senior recognition photos for every sports team each season. This important tradition, handed down from Bob and Geri Zagata, who are also Hall of Famers, has become a cherished part of the Wildcat experience. Lloyd’s dedication to ensuring every senior athlete is celebrated with a lasting memento speaks volumes about his deep commitment to the school community.

Lloyd’s passion for documenting student life extends far beyond athletics. From band competitions to our theater productions and student activities, he has tirelessly worked to capture the moments that define the Will C. Wood experience. His reliability and enthusiasm have made him an invaluable part of the campus, preserving the legacy of generations of Wildcats. As our very own historian, Lloyd’s photographs and documentation have become a vital part of the school’s story, ensuring that the achievements and spirit of our students are never forgotten.

Tonight, as we honor Lloyd Chan as a member of the 2025 Will C. Wood High School Athletics Hall of Fame, we celebrate not only his many contributions but also the profound impact he has had on the Wildcat community. Lloyd’s dedication to education, his love for documenting student accomplishments, and his commitment to preserving the history of Will C. Wood High School make him a truly deserving inductee.
